The unique sound
Surged to the top
And the way of escape
Set up shop
Stuck in a hole
Strapped to despair

Sailing on the Sorrow Sea
While the rooster's song is sung
The way of escape makes no excuses

Trapped in a box

I'm not sure I know how to interpret this, Derek, but I like that it makes me think about it. I can think of a couple of different interpretations as to who or what the way of escape is. Does the rooster's song refer to St Peter's denial of Christ?
I may or may not be an enigma

The rooster's song doesn't refer to Peter's denial, but that's an interesting thought. These lyrics are definitely inspired by something, or better yet, someone.
