This is the final effort in a trilogy of songs about those weirdly infuriating conspiracy theorists, climate change deniers and assorted bozos who lack the good sense to agree with me on everything. I seem to have spent way too much time arguing with these folks. From now on, I will just refer them to this song :). It still has a couple of rough edges production-wise, but I thought I'd post it for feedback before I work on those.
Now I can get back to writing about love, heartbreak and anthropomorphized animals.
As usual, I suggest listening to get the whole vibe of the song, rather than reading the lyric, especially as there are some improvised spoken parts that are not actually in the lyric, but here it is....
I GIVE UP
(Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)
I went into a bar last night
Just to have a quiet beer but
This guy who was sitting there next to me
Well, he wouldn’t stop bending my ear about
How global warming was a pack of lies
His face was turning quite red
"A socialist conspiracy, open your eyes"
I didn't - I rolled them instead
And said...
I give up, I just give up
No point in explaining, it'll bounce off your brain and
I could do it all again until I go insane and
It isn't worth the pain, and that's why I'm saying
I give up. I just give up.
He said, "I didn't evolve from no monkey
You gotta be kidding."
I said, "You might have a point there, friend
It's clear that you never did," and
He seemed happy that he'd won and I thought he might be done
But no, I could not have been wronger
Six thousand years the earth has been here
But I’d swear he’d been talking for longer
I give up, I just give up
No point in explaining, it'll bounce off your brain and
I could do it all again until I go insane and
It isn't worth the pain, and that's why I'm saying
I give up. I just give up.
Send the Mexicans home to stop all the raping
Just not Jose till he’s finished landscaping
My yard. If he goes near her, you can bet, my wife’ll
Shoot his ass with one of her rifles
Healthcare - another socialist plot
Best president in history's the one we've got
No political correctness back in my day
And folks didn't walk around being gay
Religion in schools was fine if it was mine
And we knew what to do with your kind
I started to speak but he took off his shoes
Put them over his ears, all his buddies did too
And shouted "Fake News"
Oh, I give up
I give up, I just give up
No point in explaining, it'll bounce off your brain and
I could do it all again until I go insane and
It isn't worth the pain, and that's why I'm saying
I give up. I just give up.

Gavin! Your songs (this song) is super funny. In my opinion you should have an own TV-Show like this one guy... the crazy guy... forgot his name... Al Yankovic?... you have amazing lyrical talent and your melodies are cool.Wow, really like what you do. And I think, the story you told us above is something that happens to a lot of people these days. So I can totally relate to it....
"I didn't evolve from no monkey
You gotta be kidding."
I said, "You might have a point there, friend
It's clear that you never did," an

Every once in a while I get in the mood or so... and start to play...
