Hello, Gary.

I frequently get asked some version of this question: “Should I go through the hassle and expense of officially copyrighting my song?”

This week’s video (above) answers that question, plus more:

  • When is my work protected?
  • Does the so-called “poor man’s copyright” protect me?
  • What are the benefits of officially copyrighting my song?
  • What does it cost to copyright my song officially, and how do I do it?

So please watch the video and learn what you need to know (and do) to be protected.

I look forward to hearing your feedback.

Just seeing your reply Jennie. You're welcome.
www.copyright.gov here in USA has circulars to read. Very educational.
NZ and USA are parties, probably, to The Berne Convention, an international agreement regarding Copyright.
While Predators are always about, rigging and rerigging laws to enable them to legally prey on the unsuspecting public, most of what applies in the USA probably applies in NZ. Check NZ Government websites for up-to-date and accurate information. A Google search:
https://www.google.com/search?q=copyright+in+new+zealand&oq=copyright+in+new+zealand&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i22i30l6j0i390l2.6385j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8.
Very interesting.
