Stars and bars are flying
But it's just a flag to me
Chicago may be burning
But that's not my family tree

I’ve been around enough to know
Who to call my brother
Pride is earned, hate is learned
And don't backtalk your mother

The South is always with me
Tall pines and mossy oaks
Down dirt roads in Dixie
And the pride of just plain folks

I'm proud to be a patriot
But don't march down my street
War is bloody business
You better practice what you preach

There's a simple southern truth
That I've known since my youth
You are your brother's keeper
And history is proof

I love this, Tony. When you dial back the outrage, there's a gentler, more lyrical JAPOV who gets his point across even better. Great sentiments, beautifully expressed. Can't wait to hear it.

@japov

Hmm, I was thinking something more melodic with finger picking rather than strumming. You sound distant and unengaged with the listener.  I think a more up-close, conversational approach might be better. Not that there's anything wrong with it, as is.
