This one’s different than any I’ve done before, but I kinda like it. The Joker is loosely based on Tolkien’s Thom Bumbahill (Not sure I spelled that right)

The Joker Doesn’t Laugh
He walks in
Looks around
Finds a chair
And he sits
Drops a fifty on the table
Tips his hat and nods his head
and takes his chips
The dealer throws two cards his way
He tosses two chips into the kitty to play
The flip gets flopped and with a snap
The game gets under way
Then he plies his trade
Like folks do back home
Takes his pay tells his jokes
Makes them laugh and makes them groan
Then drops his cards takes all the money and he goes
But the joker don’t go home
We all sin
Look around
Anywhere
And you’ll see
Drop a fifty if you’re able
Turn around and back again life isn’t free
So if you cross his path my friend would you please just walk away
He owns the game and every time
It always goes the same
He just plies his trade
Like folks do back home
Takes his pay tells his jokes
Makes them laugh and makes them groan
Then he drops his cards takes all the money and he goes
But the joker knows no home
And the joker doesn’t laugh
And the joker doesn’t cry
And the joker doesn’t pass
And the joker doesn’t lie
He never meets your eye
Or ever tries to empathize
Because he didn’t see you there
When he watched the end of time
In his mind your life’s burning bright
Like a firework laden July night sky
