The fool in me died young

Verse

If I was a few years younger

I might just try to fly.

But dreaming seems a bit harder

The mountains look too high.

Pre chorus

There was a time I climbed those mountains

And jumped out of airplanes.

A time when I soared like an eagle

Felt the heat of the flame.

Chorus

Ah but I was Icarus.

Flew too close to the sun.

Once burned to learn your lesson.

The fool in me died young.

Verse

If I was just a bit braver.

I might walk to the edge.

But jumping seems a bit foolish.

 Better afraid than dead.

Pre chorus

There was a time I climbed those mountains

And jumped out of airplanes.

A time when I soared like an eagle

Felt the heat of the flame.

Chorus

Ah but I was Icarus.

Flew too close to the sun.

Once burned to learn your lesson.

The fool in me died young.

Bridge

You laugh and say I’m too cautious.

But don’t forget I was like you.

I’ll watch you but I will warn you.

This old man was once a young fool.

Pre chorus

There was a time I climbed those mountains

And jumped out of airplanes.

A time when I soared like an eagle

Felt the heat of the flame.

Chorus

Ah but I was Icarus.

Flew too close to the sun.

Once burned to learn your lesson.

The fool in me died young.
