Verse
Girls got on their sunday best.
Boys got their eyes on them.
They're singing but they don't hear
Not one word in the hymn
Chorus
Sunday morning sermon
Lost on the back row pew.
Got their minds on the girls
And what they think they'll do.
Sunday morning sermon
Lost on the back row pew.
Verse
They ain't there for religion.
They've come for the parade.
After church the show begins.
They hope to have their way.
Chorus
Verse
Way back in the shady grove.
Way down the old dirt road.
Got cold beer in an ice chest
The radio down low.
Chorus
Bridge
Sunday dress is a mess.
They hear the angels sing.
Boys on the back row pew
They don't buy a ring.

Ha! Love it! I think it should stay in church though... Perhaps something the boys are doing despite the subject of the sermon? Or a line or two about the girls knowing precisely what they’re doing? Perhaps there’s a little more than meets the preacher’s eye happening on the back of those Sunday dresses? ?

"Lust of the eyes" preacher says
And skirts above the knees
Back-row boys all in a sweat
Cause his daughter aims to please
