Title: Old Ring copyright 2019 by Nelly Tharwat. All Rights Reserved.
Chorus 1:
I need his money. He needs my love 9
It's the only way, I'll reach the clouds above 11
I do every sweet and seductive thing 10
To wrap him 'round my little finger like a ring 12
Till he's broke and knows that he’s been played 9
Then I'll throw that old ring away 8
Verse 1:
Three months have passed as a beautiful dream 10
I pretend he is my only love 9
And he's sent from heaven above 8
He bought me a car and pays my rent. 9
I count down the days to win my game. 9
Count down the days to reach my aim 8
Pre -Chorus 1:
When I look into his eyes 7
I know he still believes my lies 8
Chorus 1:
I need his money. He needs my love 9
It's the only way, I'll reach the clouds above 11
I do every sweet and seductive thing 10
To wrap him 'round my little finger like a ring 12
Till he's broke and knows that he’s been played 9
Then I'll throw that old ring away 8
Verse 2:
My boyfriend left me for someone else 10
He broke my heart, let a deep wound in 9
I thought the rich man's turn should begin 9
To replace him and mend my heart 8
But he said;"I ain't that kind of man, 9
I discovered your evil plan 8
Pre-Chorus 2:
When he looked into my eyes 7
I felt ashamed of my old lies 8
Chorus 2:
I need his love. He has a new love 9
I thought I'd be able, to reach the clouds above 12
I lost every sweet and precious thing 10
I who fell and broke like a Ring 8
I lost love, money and everything 9
Even my Old Ring, Even my Old Ring 10
Coda:
SPOKEN:
I couldn't reach the clouds above
I lost money, love and everything
I lost money, love and everything
Even my Old Ring
I lost everything
Even my Old Ring
Even my Old Ring
My Old Ring
Old Ring
Reaching the top is so hard but not impossible.
Perhaps the ring itself needs more backstory Nelly... What's the significance of it, where did it come from, why is it so old?

What's the significance of the ring , where did it come from, why is it so old?
I use the ring as a symbol.
She tries to wrap/turn him 'round her little finger means she wants to gain complete control over him; to make him do whatever she wishes. So, she likens him while he is wrapped around her finger to a ring or to her ring.
And the day she will get what she wants, the rich man will become useless one to her...So, she likens him to an old ring in the end .
So, to get the exact meaning I think I should add the word " little " to the line :
" To wrap him 'round my finger like a ring ", then it will be " To wrap him 'round my little finger like a ring ".
Reaching the top is so hard but not impossible.
"I felt ashamed of my old lies" "Even my old ring" Is the listener supposed to think that the reason her boyfriend left is because she was doing the same to him? Or, did she go for the rich guy out of retaliation and anger for men in general? Perhaps the problem I'm having is just with the word "old". Sometimes wedding rings are family heirlooms..... That could make an interesting story 🙂

Yes, there is an interesting story behind this lyric. she say Old because the rich man is Old/ aged man. she plays on words..
and the ring she speaks about isn't a wedding ring.
Really it is an interesting story but I can't tell it now, I'm gonna write it to you tomorrow..
So, don't forget to read it..

By the way, I wrote another version of this lyric from the rich man's perspective and I had submitted it into a songwriting contest
( genre; lyrics Only )and I received the Runner Up placement.

Thank you, Jen..
And yet, I'm not satisfied with my placement and I'm still certain of my lyric, it can be a good song..
So, I made some re-writing and let the bad girl tell the story...
