I didn't know it was centuries later. That's fascinating.

Y'all know I'm a Christian so I'm not debunking what this guy said. I'm not qualified to do that, but being one for demanding a well rounded debate that looks at both sides I'll play devil's advocate here...there are 100s of thousands of non-spelling variants between the original new testament manuscripts and modern texts so his argument that there are 1000s in the Muslim's texts kinda falls on its face. A lot of what he says is really interesting and seems to be very well researched, but he should have put that piece of the argument into the correct context or it smacks of massaging the data. Thanks for sharing that Tony. Fascinating.

I haven't managed to get that far into it yet, but I must say, it is quite interesting. You always need to bear in mind from what perspective someone is coming and judge what they say based on that. Even with that though, a lot of what he says makes interesting listening. With my admin hat on, I was going to pm Tony and apologize for having to take this down, as we really don't want the site to become a debating arena for the comparative merits of religions. That could be disastrous. I will probably still do that, but I'm going to leave it up at least for a little while because it is on-topic, interesting and argued in a reasonable manner. Thanks for posting it, Tony.

Take a listen to One God Among Men. Posted it on Facebook. Can't post the link with my phone. A call for unity!

Yea...... that's what the other link was about. There's only one original Hebrew old testament that has been meticulously maintained and not even one letter of has been changed for thousands of years, and Moses wrote the first five of them. The Masoretic texts.... If you look at the Torah Codes you see that they wouldn’t work if even one letter was out of place....but hey, I'm just a messenger.

You guys have been so helpful on this song. Thank you. I'm gonna ask another question. Is it too controversial to add the line "So why'd they fight?" after the chorus? And, would it be weird to change the last chorus from "they were children..." to "We are children...?"

CHILDREN OF GOD

V1:
Crucified!
Holy Land!
They were drawn to fight {shout: Crusade}
For the glory of God (suss)

CHORUS
Children
They were Children of God
They were children
Children
They were Children of God
They were Children
So Why'd they fight?

V2:
Mohammed ascended
In the Holy Land
So his faithful recaptured the place
For the glory of God (suss)

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
Pillar of faith {whisper: Abraham}
The root of an ancient tree
In a holy place
You were the seed

Yet we fight
We die
We bleed

We love
We hate
We bleed

CHORUS/OUTRO(var.)
Children
Children of God
We are children
Children
We are children of God
We are children

We are children of God
We are children
We are children of God
So why do we fight?

I think it would raise an eyebrow and pose a more poignant question if you just changed "why do we/why'd they fight" to The unforgiving....

To be honest, I don't like the line "Why do they fight?" at all. Partly because it seems a bit formulaic, but mostly because the preceding verses were all about answering that question. I think you need something stronger, more striking. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm going to think about it

Another problem is that children fight all the time, of course, which is a problem with these lines...

They were Children
So Why'd they fight?

Do you think you have the word "children" a bit too often? Children of god is fine - we all get that - but "They were children" will make the listener think they really were kids, especially when repeated so often.

Children
They were Children of God
They were brothers
(Brothers) if they only knew
They were Children of God
Brothers
Fratricide

Fratricide is a fun word to sing, but you could always have something like

...They were Children of God
Brother
Killing brother

Just my two deniers.

The unforgiving...

Now that's a pot stirrer! Thanks Tony.

Gav, I like the layered meaning of "They were children." They were children of God (with all the responsibilities that entails), but they were acting just like children (with all the irresponsibility that entails). I did wonder about the repetition thing. Thanks for the suggestions. I'll think on that one.

The line "why'd they fight" was referring to the fact that they were "Children of God" so they should have been peaceful.

"Why'd they fight" is definitely formulaic. I was thinking it would appeal to our market (lol). Since nothing John and I do is formulaic, I thought it might be okay. Back to the drawing board.   🙂

You guys are awesome. Thanks
