Many years ago, I found myself on the beach at Elgol on the Isle of Skye as the sun was setting. I have never been anywhere as beautiful since. The quality of the light can't be captured by a camera. I tried to capture something of the atmosphere with this tune. Hey, I can only try. All comments or suggestions much appreciated.

As a Harry Belafonte fan, I was delighted to hear his song Try to Remember in your violin melody (just a few of the phrases, but it made me smile in remembrance of something beautiful which is of course the object of the song). Well played Gavin

It's a stretch, but if I try really hard, I can hear what you mean? ?

Seriously? You guys don't hear it. The violin melody from 8-16 seconds is the vocal melody (16-22 seconds) in this song...

Yes, if you listen closely, there's a similarity there for the first three bars, if you substitute "Try to remember the" for the one long note at the beginning of my effort. You could certainly sing it over the top of it. After that, they go their separate ways.

I made some changes to this track. The mastering is done slightly differently, but the biggest difference is that the original version featured drums - low volume but noticeable. In this version, I took them out completely. If anyone feels like helping me out, could you listen to this version (or at least some of it) and let me know which you think works better. The original version is still at the link in the original post, if you scroll up to the top of this page.

Hey Gav! I'm thinking this actually works better without the drums.

Ok... Honestly? John's right, The drums are so basic I say leav'em in! But... and you know how I hate to criticize lol... in both versions that violin is making me grind my teeth! I think it's in the wrong register... I would try a cello with some roomverb and cut a bunch of the mid high EQ, lay it back in the mix a bit.... then brighten the piano and bring it foreword. Just my 2cents ?
