A difficult subject for a man to write about. I think you handle it well.
Not so sure about these lines:
Behind the truth is a lie
That still seems all too real.
It seems to me that it's got things backwards. The truth (what happened and what it made her) is actually behind the lie (a smile or just going about life).
I may or may not be an enigma
