The Hammer
Verse
Won’t you bring the hammer down hard upon my head?
Stab me with your steely knife until I lie here dead.
Nail me high up on a cross like my father’s son.
Put a bullet in my brain with your smoking gun.
Chorus
Punish me for being what you can never be.
Look inside a mirror and tell me what you see.
Punish me for being what you can never be.
Verse
Won’t you bring the hammer down hard upon my head?
Punish me for what you think inside your pious head.
Lock me up inside a cage and send me far away.
I will be your punishment, the price that you must pay.
Chorus
Punish me for being what you can never be.
Look inside a mirror and tell me what you see.
Punish me for being what you can never be.
Bridge
Do you need to see me bleed, must you give me pain?
Do you need my agony, just to keep you sane?
Verse
Won’t you bring the hammer down hard upon my head?
spill my blood upon the ground and stain your hands with red.
You can wash away the guilt and wash away the blame
but you will still be Judas by any other name.
Chorus
Punish me for being what you can never be.
Look inside a mirror and tell me what you see.
Punish me for being what you can never be.

I admit that I don't really know what this is about, but I still like it. There are some powerful lines, whatever they actually mean when taken together 🙂
I may or may not be an enigma
