Why is it going to hurt? In verse 2, why is it going to get worse? In the bridge, why do you want to "leave this world"? Given the rest of the lyrics, it sounds like he wants to commit suicide or something.
It is well written as far as conversational is concerned. In the first line, "give your heart some time", gives me the impression he has just come off of a breakup? But he's starting a new relationship, "too soon". But you don't give any evidence that it is going to hurt. This guy needs some confidence in himself.

I love the hook and the structure. Seems to me this would be very singable and catchy. I share Phil’s confusion with the bridge. It reads like he’s proposing a suicide pact, but that doesn’t seem to fit with the rest of the song. Am I understanding that wrong?
I’m also not sure what the short end of a long flowing skirt is. That line left me scratching my head ?
When you say “advert,” I think maybe you mean “avert.”
For what it’s worth, I think this could be really good.

love always hurts 1 way or another,yes he just came off a hurtfull breakup, he's warry of a new love, the evidence is his past short term relationships, he's thinkin woth his heart not his noggin, and yes it shoulda been avert . the bridge if needed refers to having a love that goes beyond life as in bein side by side in their graves
