Setting myself Free

Verse

I grew weary of dreaming

Wishing on falling stars.

I grew weary of waiting.

Watching for passing cars.

Chorus

No more waiting, no more watching.

No more wishing, no more dreams.

No more waiting for tomorrow.

I am setting myself free.

Verse

I rolled about the country

Free as a tumbleweed.

I worked when I needed money

Then caught the next breeze.

Chorus

No more waiting, no more watching.

No more wishing, no more dreams.

No more waiting for tomorrow.

I am setting myself free.

Verse

I rode my thumb like a bum.

Riding a westbound train.

Drifted like a ship at sea

Free of its anchor chain.

Chorus

No more waiting, no more watching.

No more wishing, no more dreams.

No more waiting for tomorrow.

I am setting myself free.

Verse

I was living not dreaming.

Doing what suited me.

I was doing not thinking

Floating on the breeze.

Bridge

Whatever comes will come.

What will be will be.

No more waiting, wishing

What will be will be.

Chorus

No more waiting, no more watching.

No more wishing, no more dreams.

No more waiting for tomorrow.

I am setting myself free.

This flows really well, Carroll, especially the chorus, where the repetition of "No more" has a really musical effect. The lyric is old-fashioned, of course, with its reference to hopping trains. I'm not sure that happens any more, but it is such a compelling image of freedom.

Hola @Gavin

Very catching lyric with a very good rhythm and cadence... I like very much "Then caught the next breeze."

Hi Carroll, I have composed a melody for this lyric. Here is the result.

Do whatever you want with it. If you don't like, just ignore it.
