Runaway Heart

Verse

Got my past packed in a hefty bag

In the backseat of my car.

Got my headlights on the road ahead.

Got my eyes fixed on the stars.

Pre chorus

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’m sick of where I was.

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’ll find someone to love.

Chorus

I’m a runaway, runaway.

I’m a runaway heart.

Verse

Got my heart set on a happy life

With a man I don’t yet know.

Left my troubles back in the driveway.

Told a fool I have to go.

Pre chorus

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’m sick of where I was.

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’ll find someone to love.

Chorus

I’m a runaway, runaway.

I’m a runaway heart.

Bridge

Fights at night, lonely days.

No more tears to cry.

A tank of gas, broken heart.

It’s time that I fly.

Pre chorus

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’m sick of where I was.

I don’t know where I’m going

But I’ll find someone to love.

Chorus

I’m a runaway, runaway.

I’m a runaway heart.

Good one, Carroll. Flows really well, very concise, good visual elements.

Hi Carroll,
I love these lines. I'd like to give this song a try, if you don't mind.

All the best
Robert

Someone else working on it but I don't mind two versions.

Added to chorus.

I'm a hope, a prayer a new(fresh) start.

I'm a runaway heart.

I'm a runaway, Runaway

I'm a runaway heart.

Hi Carroll,
here's what I came up with: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14201640

I replaced "Hefty bag" with a plastic bag because here in Europe nobody knows what a "Hefty" bag is. I also modified the pre-chorus slightly. In verse 2 I replaced "a man" with "someone" to make it fit both a male or female vocalist.

RUNAWAY HEART
Verse 1
Packed my past in a plastic bag
That's on the backseat of my car
Got my headlights on the road ahead
My eyes fixed on the stars

Pre chorus
Don't know where I'm going
But I'm sick of where I was
There's no way of knowing
If I'll find someone to love

Chorus
I'm a runaway, a runaway
I'm a runaway heart
I'm a runaway, a runaway
I'm a runaway heart

Verse 2
Got my heart set on a happy life
With someone I don't yet know
I left my troubles in the driveway
Told a fool I had to go

Pre chorus

Chorus

Bridge
Fights at night, lonely days
No more tears to cry
A tank of gas, a broken heart
It's time that I fly

Chorus

All the best
Robert

Great job, Robert. This has that poppy feel you do so well. When you do the final vocal track I hear that last line of the pre-chorus really soaring as it builds to the chorus. I particularly like the piano melody as it comes in at 2:35. Melodically, I think this is the hookiest part. One of my faves of yours and well worth taking further in my opinion.

I'm glad you guys like it. At the moment I don't have any further plans for this one. We are still in a lockdown here and I can't invite vocalists to my studio.

All the best
Robert
