" My Name Should Be On The Front Door "

I've got friends in ev'ry place I'm drinkin
and they all know my likes and what I'm thinkin
so if this gives you an tiny inklin, I've been here before

You could say I'm a part of these fixtures
if you look around you”ll see me in pictures
for the money I've spent here on liquor, my name should be on the door

(chorus)
My name should be on the front door, it might as well be wel-come, all the times I've been here before, I”ve bought most of this building, my name should be on the front door

**music breaks fiddle piano steel**

Over there's the new waitress Miss Hollis
I've known her since she got out of college
to me she's a wealth of knowledge, and she keeps me up to date

On Thursdays it's free on your seconds
it brings in a crowd to reckon
even those who been hen peckoned in every way
On Thursday the draft beer is 2-fers
it brings in all the winners and losers
makes up for Monday' night fewers,
makes
the weekend get here much sooner, or that's what the regulars say

(chorus)
My name should be on the front door, it might as well be welcome, all the times I've been here before, makes this bar my own home dwelling, my name should be on the front door......

I like the concept ! Good lyric! and I think  these lines are the most beautiful;

and they all know my likes and what I'm thinkin
so if this gives you an tiny inklin, I've been here before

You could say I'm a part of these fixtures

(chorus)
My name should be on the front door, it might as well be wel-come, all the times I've been here before, I”ve bought most of this building, my name should be on the front door

**music breaks fiddle piano steel**

Over there's the new waitress Miss Hollis
I've known her since she got out of college

Reaching the top is so hard but not impossible.

I'd like to think you were right about this being a potential charter. I like this kind of song with the playful hook. I'm not sure if this kind of stuff is in vogue these days because I don't listen to enough country music. As you say, it reminds me of old style traditional country, which I used to enjoy, songs like "I'm Going to Hire a Wino To Decorate Our Home" and "Tell Ole I Ain't Here He Better Get On Home." I remember years ago driving around Dallas when one of the radio stations had billboards around the city with just a line from a song on them. My favorite was "I Bought The Shoes That Just Walked Out On Me."

My brother lives in a village in Scotland with one pub about a minute's walk from his house. I was in there once and he demonstrated his ability to tell who was coming in just by the sound of the door opening. Maybe I'll write a song about that.

I may or may not be an enigma

@gavin

yes it relates to people's lives and it is timeless could been used at most any era and the future too sure would love to see someone musicate it and record it . I had several more lines to use as changes if someone didn't like these. Yes you write about it maybe call it "the sounds of a bar"? maybe make it a blind guy who goes there real often and how he can tell what's goin on just by his ears nose, sixth senses. My kinfolk came from Scotland where we had 2 castles there, still is kin there
