(Verse I)
Blue River, Over the sun.
There was a Blue River,
A wonderful one.
There was a Blue River,
Over the sun.
I used to wade through the waters after dark.
(VII)
A young traveler, In the night.
I was a young traveler, a cop's delight.
I was a, young traveler, In the night.
I used to stand on the highway, Sleep in the park.
(Chorus)
Blue, Blue River, You were hard to resist.
When I saw you a' leavin',
Girl I knew what I would miss.
You were soft to me babe,
But your love's gone away,
Down that Blue, Blue River, In your heart.
(VIII)
A sweet siren, To sing of her love.
She was a sweet siren, From up above.
She was a, sweet siren, To sing of her love.
She used to stand in the choir makin' her mark.
(Repeat Chorus)

This 3-chord wonder came to me in 1975 and I let it stay. It was fun to sing in its simplicity.

Here's another one, simplistic, but entertained me so I wrote it.

Verse I
I'm Inclined,
To think about it now and then.
I'm Inclined,
To wonder where you've been.
I'm Inclined,
To wonder what it's all about.
Nobody loves, This boy now.
Nobody, Nobody loves me now.
Verse II
I'm allowed,
To think about it now and then.
I'm allowed,
To think inside my pen, My pen, My pen, My pen, My pen.
I'm allowed,
To let it out, When it comes in.
Oh, 'deed I do need a friend.
Oh, 'deed I do need a friend.
(Chorus)
I'm Inclined, To think about,
The things I'm not allowed to do.
I'm allowed, To do the things, I'm not inclined to.
I'm Inclined, To think or do, Nearly anything!
I'm Inclined, To mean it when I sing,
Nobody clips, This boy's wings.
Nobody, Nobody clips my wings.
Verse III
I'm Inclined,
To reach for you,
At night sometimes.
I'm Inclined,
To cry, when I, Drink wine, Drink wine,
That's all the time.
I'm Inclined,
To wonder what it's all about.
Nobody owns, This boy now.
Nobody, Nobody owns me now.
(Repeat Chorus)

A country-fied piece. The 'echoic' lines, 'My pen, my pen, my pen, my pen' had a dual meaning, like the echo in a 'pen' where you'd lock an animal, or a man, and the ink in a pen a man's not allowed to write with. That variation in the 2nd Verse brings a new thing in to keep it fresh.
The chorus seems to sum up, to make a little sense of the Rhymey Verses and their vagaries.
The 3rd Verse is a bittersweet explanation of what's got the old boy down, but not out.

@gary-e-andrews I like this one, Gary ("I'm Inclined). I like the effect of the repetition, creating a kind of list of ideas. It's something I've used before and always felt it provides a nice structure that keeps the listener focused and is easy to follow.
Love these lines.
I'm Inclined, To think about,
The things I'm not allowed to do.
I'm allowed, To do the things, I'm not inclined to.

No recording. Unless you can find it at the Copyright Office.
I thought the simplicity of the Lyric worked well and was worth posting.

@gary-e-andrews I like this lyric. It flows really well and has a satisfying symmetry in form and meaning.
I may or may not be an enigma

I play it slowly, and sustain the notes at the ends of Lines through most of another bar, and am enjoying the execution.
There's a four-Note bass riff in the Introductory Movement, repeated between Verses and at the Bridge, and Coda.
I like the Lyrical 'theme', the behavior of the Love Interest Character that the Singer Character is suspicious about.
It's a very simple Song, but I'm enjoying it right now.
Some editing is going on in my head, 'collision' instead of repeating 'decision'. The 'slip out one night' Line is questionable. That's the fun of Song-Writing, the ongoing insights and possibilities. Sometimes you 'get' the story, the angles of possible insights into the storyline that come to you over time. Incubation.

(Verse I)
There's nothin' on the ocean.
There's nothin' on the shore.
She shutters up the windows,
And battens down the door.
She leaves a candle burnin'
On the windowsill for sure,
For he may be sailin' home tonight,
(Chorus Refrain)
And Maybe Nevermore.
(Verse II)
There's many a mile of Irish coast.
England has much more,
Rocks, cliffs, riptide grips
To dash you on the shore.
There's many a wreck
That pays respect
Upon the ocean floor,
He may be sailin' home tonight,
Maybe Nevermore.
(Bridge)
"Fan-cy! Will ya come a' dancin'?"
"No! Gene, I've got to keep the light!"
"Fan-cy! Will ya take a chance then?
Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!
Oh, Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!"
(Verse III)
Old Gene, he takes her promised hand
And holds it in his own.
Fancy strikes a stance to dance.
The fiddle heeds the bow.
If her lover saw her
He would come to be forlorn.
He wouldn't let her see him
Turn away and go to mourn.
No he wouldn't let her see him
Turn away and go to mourn.
(Bridge)
"Fan-cy! Will ya come a' dancin'?"
"No! Gene, I've got to keep the light!"
"Fan-cy! Will ya take a chance then?
Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!
Oh, Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!"
(Verse 4)
There's nothin' on the ocean.
There's nothin' on the shore.
She opens up the windows.
She opens up the door.
She blows the candle out,
Upon the windowsill for sure,
To save the light to light tonight,
And Maybe Nevermore.
Oh! To save the light to light tonight,
And Maybe Nevermore!
(Bridge)
"Fan-cy! Will ya come a' dancin'?"
"No! Gene, I've got to keep the light!"
"Fan-cy! Will ya take a chance then?
Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!
Oh, Dance your fancy Irish jig
Right here for me tonight!"

I've been finding a lot of Song Structures lately that vary from usual formats.
I think this one, just a Rhymey exploration, in a common key, employs a Refrain-Type Chorus, the 'Refrain' of Melody ending each Verse, even though the Lyric varies each time. The 'Change', to break the risk of monotony of Repetition (Structure) is then identified as a Bridge, even though it contains what I've decided is the title Line, THE Hook. I thought it was thought provoking, 'How is one in the middle of love?'
As always, if it works, it works. If it doesn't, it doesn't.
The Love-Interest-Character's 'role' in the Bridge seems more suited to a male off-roader, mud and blood and silliness, but seeing a female in the role is interesting visually too. I like to imagine the video presentation of a Song, even one as abstract and Rhymey as this one. Visual presentations often bring a weak Song up enough to pass the test of listener/viewer appeal.

Verse I
In the middle of the night,
I wake up thinkin',
I don't wanna start drinkin'!
I don't wanna fight,
and have to think about it
in the middle of the night.
Verse II
In the middle of the day,
you're drinkin' doubles.
I don't wanna burst your bubble!
I don't wanna play,
the crazy games you play
in the middle of the day.
Bridge
You come rollin' up,
in somebody else's truck,
with mud all over the place,
grinnin' like a fool,
lookin' like a tool,
with blood all over your face!
In The Middle Of Love,
we have nothing more to say.
In The Middle Of Love,
I've decided to go my own way.
Verse III
In the middle of a sentence,
you stop me to say,
you don't wanna hear about it.
You don't wanna know.
You'd rather stand here laughin'
in the middle of the road.
Repeat Verse I
In the middle of the night,
I wake up thinkin',
I don't wanna start drinkin'!
I don't wanna fight,
and have to think about it
in the middle of the night.
Coda
I'd have to think about it,
in the middle of the night.
