So I wrote this whole long lyric set, all about the books I’ve loved over the years. I think it had a lot of technical poetic value, but when I went to record it I found I wanted to sing about this girl I used to know. I’d give y’all context but I do in the intro of the song. Hopefully y’all like it okay

I never tried to hurt you
I doubt if you’d believe me
If this world gave me everything
Then you could have it all
Wish I could be there for you
I wish that you could see me
As anything but needy
As anything at all
There was a time I’d hold you
And I could slow your breathing
And when I made a stupid joke
Your laughter gave it meaning
Remember when I wrote that song
About how angels dream
You asked me if you were the angel
I laughed and said who else could it be
Been back to working on it recently
Back then I couldn’t sing
When I wrote about that girl
Who wished her eyes were green
And the island in the corner of that deep blue sea
I just wished she could see
I’d still give my world for you
So now I just leave you be
Just know I still adore you
And that I just wish you peace
Before we watched the sunrise
I was terrified to sing
Your eyes made me realize
Maybe I could build something
There was a time I’d hold you
And I could slow your breathing
And when I made a stupid joke
Your laughter gave it meaning
Remember when I wrote that song
About how angels dream
You asked me if you were the angel
I laughed and said who else could it be
Been back to working on it recently
Back then I couldn’t sing
When I wrote about that girl
