"I'd Rather Be A Cool Cat Than A Hot Dog"

I come in last night quarter to 3 and there she was waitin on me, with a fry-in pannnn
With 1 big swing she let er rip, broke my nose and cut my lip, now here I am

(chorus)
I'd rather be a cool cat than a hot dog
so I kept my mouth shut stead of spoutin off
some things are best unsaid stead of bein thrown across,
I'd rather be a  cool cat than a hot dog

*music breaks honkytonk style *

I could blame my troubles on liquor or gals
or maybe even one of my drinkin pals, but that won't further my cause
So I man on up keep it inside, swallow up some of my own male pride not being a hot dog

 (chorus)
I'd rather be a cool cat than a hot dog
so I kept my mouth shut stead of spoutin off
some things are best unsaid stead of bein thrown across,
I'd rather be a  cool cat than a hot dog

Now sometimes my eyes wonder sometimes they stare never thought in a million years she'd be right there
caught in the act with no way out can't blame it on God,

I'd rather be a  cool cat than a hot dog
I'd rather be a  cool cat than a hot dog,,,,,

It is cute/funny! And your idea of using a honkytonk rhythm fits the lyrics.

I really enjoyed reading that. It's cool and self-deprecating at the same time, and what a great hook!

I had a bit of difficulty deciphering the structure because of the way it's laid out on the screen. Once I did, I liked it, although it seems like the last verse has a different pattern from the earlier ones.

I may or may not be an enigma
