Days turn to years
But the faces remain
That final surprise
That expression the same
A permanent impression
Fog of war all around
But I fear no evil
And death be not proud
Control is the illusion
That I desperately keep
Once self preservation
Now restless sleep
I'll never give up
Or give in to the pain
I'll never regret
I've paid my debt
I'm back home again
The war is long over
But the battle still rages
I reclaim my ground
Small steps and stages
Most days a reminder
That I'm still alive
My duty and my honor
