I will probably try to review at least one for every one I post.
Tell you what then... you've got my permission to say I SUCK!
Welcome to the Junction 🙂

I never do that. I try to be encouraging. Although I also try to be honest and say if I think something just ain't right.
Lol… careful now... I write songs about "things that just ain't right" all the time. It's good for the soul!

Oh yeah, me too. I seldom write any happy songs. What I meant was if the singing is way out of tune, or the words don't rhyme at all, things like that. Or if it sounds exactly like some other song, I will mention that.
Yep… you have arrived Polly, welcome home! Now post something 😉

Yeah, I have some new songs I am trying to make good enough recordings of. And lots of older songs, but probably should try to make better recordings of them.
I think I will make it my goal for today to get one recording that I think is good enough to post.
Don't be shy, I record and post rough ideas with my phone all the time! See you out there 🙂

Hello Polly, "T" is giving you great advice, biggest hurdle is getting over being shy. I am not a musician, and I'm most certainly no singer, still I do my best to try and communicate what I hear in my songs so others can get an idea where I'm going. Folks here have been very gracious with their feed back and I much appreciate that. All of the songs I post, music and lyrics, are one track one take, all very basic, so don't fear. Looking forward to hearing some of your songs. Best wishes,

Thanks. No I am not shy at all. I just have been trying to raise my standards a little regarding my recordings. I like to give my songs a fair chance, if possible, by having recordings that sound ok. Even if I know a song very well, I have a tendency to screw it up once the recording is turned on.
Haha, been there, done that a thousand times. Seems like I can play and sing all day, then once I hit the record button it turns to mud. I'm glad I have a digital recorder, back-erase-enter then do it again, lol. Keep raising the bar on your recordings you will be pleased with the results. Good luck and best wishes,

You normally play steel string?
Polly, if it has music, you're best to post it in Tune Topics. Those titles for the forums came straight over from the old BMI forum, Songwriter 101. When that closed down, a lot of us wanted to stay in touch, which is why I set up Songwriter Junction. I kept it as similar as possible so that those folks would feel at home 🙂
When I post at Tune Topics, I don't usually consider a song finished. I'm always looking for feedback, so a rough recording is absolutely fine. Everyone knows it's about the song, not the production. Having said that, don't let the production get in the way of hearing the melody and lyrics, of course. Looking forward to hearing your stuff!
