If I Could Only Have It Now
There's a dollar bill on the table.
A thing from long ago.
It wasn't worth much even back then.
But aunt Mabel wouldn't give it up.
She held on to it for dear life.
For it was all she had.
There's a dollar bill on the table.
It won't buy much...
Back then it was a days wage.
And you worked real hard for it.
If I could only have it now.
What would it be worth today.
There's a dollar bill on the table.
It ain't worth much.
But it was worth something.
Some say it's just a piece of paper.
Others held on to it for dear life.
While others just didn't care.
