The Brain and The Bulldog
If I’m the bulldog, then you’re the brain
And you’re the spark and I’m the flame
And I’m the fire and you’re the name
And none of it matters anyway
Cuz either way we’re both insane
And if it were some other way
And everything else were changed
We’d be the brain and the bulldog anyway
Cuz the end of the start’s
The start of the end
If you let the filler go
If you cut the page to notes
The point remains
But I guess it’s not the same
So fuck it let’s go
You can be the brain I’ll be the bulldog
Or be the bull I’ll be the red cape shaking
Matador you chase on your last day
Go and be a clap of thunder
I’ll burn brighter in the rain
Shake the earth but I’ll inspire
And we’ll see who wins the day
Shoot first I’ll be the hand grenade
That blows us both away
And when we’re gone we’ll see who’s crowned the bulldog and the brain
If I’m the portrait, you’re the frame
If you’re the artist, I’m the paint
And I’m the painter you’re a name
That don’t much matter anyway
And either way we’re both insane
And if it were some other way
And everything were changed
We were only ashes anyway
The start of the start’s
The end of the end
If you let the filler go
If you cut the page to notes
The point remains
But not the same
So go
Be the brain I’ll be the bulldog
Be the bull I’ll be the red cape shaking
Matador you chase on your last day
Go and be a clap of thunder
I’ll burn brighter in the rain
Shake the earth but I’ll inspire
And we’ll see who wins the day
Shoot first I’ll be the hand grenade
That blows us both away
And when we’re gone we’ll see who’s crowned the bulldog and the brain

Hi Rhys,
I love this one. I listened to it from the beginning to the very end, which doesn't happen very often. And then I listened again. In some segments I think the music is awesome. That echo really creates a cool atmosphere. I'm not sure about the chorus sections. In my opinion there is too much going on, too many instruments and they don't sound in sync. I think a little less instruments there would sound better. Or maybe it's the various echoes that aren't in sync. I'm not sure. But even the way it is right now this is really an awesome song. Great job.
All the best
Robert
Hey Robert, thanks a lot! Glad ya liked it. I’ll play around with the chorus more after work and likely update the file sometime tonight. I was worried the chorus bits were still out of sync, but I think by the time I posted it I’d been listening to it on repeat too long to discriminate properly. Thanks for the feedback, much appreciated!
Cheers

You really like to play with delay effects (as do we all, lol)... but you seem to treat your vocals as kind of an afterthought. If you run your vox through a really thick compression with quick attack and release, they will stand out in your mix in contrast to the delay effects. The compression will help punch out every syllable of every word 🙂

Haha, yeah that’s a pretty fair analysis. I think more than anything I treat passable as a baseline of excellence when recording vocals, mostly b/c I genuinely just don’t like my singing. I’ll add some compression and see if I can clean the vocal track up a bit! Thanks!
