Unlucky in sleep at 5:17, lucky enough to trade the night for the half moon in my window and this erotic Lyric of lust and love, in D, G, A.
"She Brought Me"
copyright May 25, 2019 by Gary E. Andrews
(Verse I)
Ain't it like her,
to wake me just in time
to see her go.
She's a biker.
She rides away,
smilin', and slow.
I'll run across the hill,
just to say goodbye,
To get that one last kiss,
To hear her say,
"I'll see you tonight."
(Verse II)
Ain't it like her,
to leave me
with breakfast and a note.
I'm a hitchhiker,
tryin' to catch a ride
on her boat.
I'll wade across the creek,
to look her in the eye,
just to hear her speak,
To tell me
"Everything's al-right."
(Chorus)
She's got this in control,
Body and soul!
She Brought Me
From the darkness,
to the light!
(Verse III)
Ain't it like her,
to snuggle into me
in the night.
I can't fight her,
when she's startin' somethin'
we both know we'll like.
She sits up on my chest,
pulls off her blue dress,
The half moon in the window
shines its light.
(Chorus/Coda)
She's got this in control,
Body and soul!
She Brought Me
from the darkness,
to the light!
She's got this in control,
Body and soul!
She Brought Me
from the darkness,
to the light!

Wonderful. Flows beautifully. I love it!
Cheers!
Agree with Bernd. Wonderfully visual and very sensual. A simple, gentle melody to this one? It's hard to read the lyrics without one forming - always a good sign.

I almost put a "Rated R" label on it, but thought the lust was balanced by the love so maybe it was alright to sing about.
I had a Melody at 5 ante-meridian, but now at 5 post-meridian I don't know if I can remember it.
Here's a layout of the Chord Structure you may want to try to find a prosody of your own.
Just remember, she's a fantasy, and she loves him as well as he loves her. Real women are harder to work with! LOL

Gary.... will you please do a rough recording of this so we can get an idea of the 'feeling' you put into it?

I still don't have any recording capabilities. If I could advise my younger self I'd advise learning how to record yourself, so you don't have to depend on other people.

If I send you a simple start-stop-play digital recorder, will you use it?
https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=1449856
If I can figure out how. A friend recommends a Presonus device but I long ago began to fear the 'investment' in things electronic that I then can't use. I invested $2,000. in a MacBook, thinking it would enable me. It didn't. What I could do was inadequate, flat, unlistenable recordings. It eventually became obsolete, unable to accept Apple's own latest Operating System. So Apple can forever kiss my ass. I'll click on the link you sent and see if I can figure out how to use it.

Wow! Cheap, and better than nothing! I may have to explore the possibilities JAPOV! My first question was getting it out of the device to the computer but it says it comes with that connection. The sound-quality may be limited but adequate for the 'rough demo' stage of giving another party an idea of what a Song is intended to sound like, Tempo, Melody, Lyric if one can make oneself understood. I'll check into it. Thanks. I write stuff and think, 'Damn! I wish more people could hear that!' But I laid aside most ambition for broader sharing years ago, and content myself that 'These Songs are just for me.'
Thanks again.

Gary, for a bit more money, you might want to consider a USB mic (plugs directly into your laptop) and a free or cheap DAW. Just open up the DAW software, click record and you're good to go. I use Acoustica Mixcraft and the basic version is on sale now for $49. https://www.acoustica.com/ There are others that are free such as Audacity.
If you're a technophobe, you don't have to use any more than the basic features. Being able to record guitar and vocals to separate tracks and cut and paste the best takes together really helps. You might also want to use a bit of EQ, compression and reverb on your voice, which can be done using simple presets, which essentially reduce it to a single click. The effect on your voice is dramatic. My vocals are not great, but compared to what they sound like before I apply the magic, I'm Pavarotti! That might be a reason not to go with Audacity - I believe it is more difficult to apply these effects.
I use the Blue Yeti microphone. You can get it at Guitar Center for $149, which is a bit of investment, but it comes with the Studio One DAW and Izotope Nectar, which makes enhancing your vocals even easier. That would really be all you need.
I may or may not be an enigma

If you read the specs in that link you'll see that it records in MP3 or WAV formats! It's perfect for just posting/Emailing a rough acoustic MP3 or dropping a WAV into a basic DAW 🙂
https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=1449856
Yes, I read them, and it's fine for that. It's just an extra step. You have to import them into the DAW. Not a big problem. Not really a problem at all. Just an extra step. I do wonder a bit about the quality of the mic though.
Anyway, for a very rough recording I'm sure it's fine.

Hi Gary, I got a melody by following your chord progression. Here is the result.
You can do what you want with it. If you don't like it, just ignore it.

That works mon ami! I hope you had fun with it! That tempo is interesting too. Songs have that flexibility to be played at different tempos, different treatments, and to be interesting in all of them. Thank you for exploring! Merci!
