Chorus

Take one last drag of Salem

Blow a ring of smoke.

Watch it slowly dissapate

Along with all hope.

Take one last drag of Salem.

Blow a ring of smoke.

Verse

I'm unsteady not yet ready.

I need another drink.

Im hoping it settles my nerves.

Gives me some time to think.

Pre chorus

I had it all i lost it.

Cost me everything.

Lost my job my marriage.

Pawned her diamond ring.

Chorus

Take one last drag of Salem.

Blow a ring of smoke.

Watch it slowly dissapate.

Along with all hope.

Verse

I'm uncertain not done hurting.

I need some time to heal.

I know that drinkings not helping

But it numbs what i feel.

Pre chorus

I had it all i lost it

Cost me everything.

Lost my job my marriage.

Pawned her diamond ring.

Bridge

I draw back the curtain.

Let in some light.

Catch a glimpse of hope.

It fades from sight.

Chorus

Take one last drag of Salem.

Blow a ring of smoke.

Watch it slowly dissapate.

Along with all hope.

Take one last drag of Salem.

Blow a ring of smoke.

I love the imagery of the ring of smoke, Carroll. That imagery drew me in right from the start. I got to the end and found myself wanting to know more about the character. How did he lose everything? Was it the drinking? Or, is he drinking to numb the pain of losing everything? Brilliant lines these...

I left it vague on purpose. I feel like maybe more people could relate to the feeling of it rather than one guys situation.

I'm pretty sure that every lyric choice you make is done with a purpose in mind, Carroll. Just saying that it was intriguing enough to leave me asking questions at the end where most of the time, I'd just get to the end of a lyric and walk away.   ?
