Martha
Verse
Martha had auburn hair
Her eyes were emerald green.
Martha would sit outside
Beneath a shady tree.
Chorus
She'd light up- inhale- float away.
Martha would get high.
She'd fly with eagles in the sky,
Smoke her grass all day.
Verse
I'd sit down beside her
Her she would take my hand.
No one spoke_ not a word
Till we came back to land.
Verse
Jellybeans, the green ones;
We'd always share a few.
She once had me kiss her,
Said she could taste the truth.
Chorus
She'd light up_ inhale _ float away.
Martha would get high.
She'd fly with eagles in the sky
Smoke her grass all day.
Verse
She was more than just stoned
Her eyes could read your soul.
She could speak with angels
Once even told me so
Verse
Martha's eyes h those eyes
They saw what children see.
Martha was beautiful
She taught me to believe.
Chorus
She'd light up_ inhale_ float away
Martha would get high.
She'd fly with eagles in the sky
Smoke her grass all day.
Bridge
She'd look at me like she could see
The me I tried to hide.
I found another side of me
In her emerald eyes.

Hello Carroll, I like the title, so simple, "Martha", it pulls the reader in to find out "what is this Martha about?". You really have some great verses, in my opinion too many, however there is a lot to work with if you wanted to shorten them. The chorus is just right for this lyric, although I'm not completely sold on the last line. JMO, you have a good lyric, could be great with a little work and music. Good luck and best wishes with this piece,
