oh yeah I heard the melody even without correcting the count, and it's just drawing out that little part, which is doable
Yes, I think it's a case of counting the beats rather than the syllables, and that can include beats without vocals. At least, that's what works for me 🙂

Mr Rogers was always a little too "light in the loafers" for me... Lol, there's an entire generation out there today who have no clue who he was. That reminds me, my X has my album collection and Sansui turntable... 🙁

Lol… I remember Mr Greenjeans. I also remember how "adult" black-n-white episodes of The Flintstones and Pop Eye used to be 😉

Now with a video...
This song seems to confuse a lot of people, myself included to be honest. I could feel what it was about, but not really explain it. The best I could come up with was that it's about falling through the air, not about hitting the ground. So, unable to put it into words that made sense to anyone, I made a video.
The video might take a few seconds to start, depending on your connection.
As I was making this, various pretentious thoughts came to mind. "Echoes of Camus"...."in the spirit of Baudelaire...." I yield to no one in my ability to be a pompous git. Then it came to me. The message, though not the tone, resonates with the sensibilities so forcefully expressed by the great Transylvanian philosopher Dr. Frank N. Furter, as he urges Brad and Janet, "Don't dream it - Be it." At that point, I may have got a bit carried away. Dr. Furter's fate should serve as a warning to us about where this might lead...

"It's just a jump to the left... then a step to the right
Put your hands on your hips... then bring your knees in tight
Then it's the pelvic thrust... that really drives you insane
Let's do the time warp again..."
OMG!! NOW I GET IT!!

Well, something would appear to have driven me insane LOL. But I was thinking more of another lyric...
"Give yourself over to absolute pleasure"
Are you a Dr. Furter, "swimming the warm waters of sins of the flesh," a Brad or a Janet in peril of being carried away by those warm waters, a Dr. Everett Von Scott determined not to succumb, or a Riff Raff or Magenta stepping in to put an end to self-destructive self-indulgence? There's a college paper here.

I think I'm more the Eddie type... "Hot patootie, bless my soul... I really love that Rock-n-Roll"

Yes, I think you probably are more of an Eddie, in which case, you'd be excluded from such philosophical musings by the fact of having been eaten a while ago. In your case, the "it" in "Don't dream it - be it" would be dinner.

On the contrary, it would seem giving yourself over to your base instincts falls right in line...
You're scaring me now Gavin!

On a side note... I liked Tim Curry best as the Devil in Legend 🙂

No need to be scared. I'm probably a Dr. Von Scott. Of course, that would make you my nephew... Now I'm scared.
