Have you ever had that strange adrenaline rush just at the thought of doing something like this?

GULP - DON’T SIP
(Words & Music by Gavin Sinclair)

Is it time to climb the tallest bulding you know
And imagine yourself falling
To the pavement far, far, far below?
Listen - it’s calling
And it’s not that you really want to hit it
Brain stain waiting for the rain
It’s the thrill of the minute when you’re in it
It’s the singing in your veins.

Give in to sensation
Toes and lips and finger tips
Can you taste the salvation in damnation?
Gulp - don’t sip

Do you ever long to pull the trigger
Just to see what it does?
And when they ask you why that particular guy,
You answer, “Just because
He reminded me of someone in a way
I didn’t like, maybe a cousin
That I never met, but it’s OK.
Now he doesn’t

Give in to sensation
Toes and lips and finger tips
Can you taste the salvation in damnation?
Gulp - don’t sip

No tail, no horns , no cloven hoof
I won’t tell you what to do
I hand you the gun and I lead you to the roof
Then it’s up to you.

Nah, I don't suffer from that. I just got to thinking of that feeling you get in your stomach when you get very close to the edge of a tall building or a cliff, the "What if I..." moment.

Well... I sense a bit more purpose than that lol. I guess, even when you slip a little too deeply into left field, you just can’t help but do it well! You should cut @RhysFraser loose with this one... ?

That's kind of what I mean, Carroll. That and the thought of feeling something so intensely.

Without judgement, I'm going to speak only to how this effects "me"...

"Is it time to climb the tallest building you know...?" The first line asks a question and sets a mood, inferring that this is in fact a common question.

"Can you taste the salvation in damnation? Gulp - don’t sip" This encouragement dares one to consider, and drink deeply of demise.

"Do you ever long to pull the trigger Just to see what it does?" Now, we have an equally deadly offensive weapon... and a suggestion of an enemy both within and without.

"No tail, no horns , no cloven hoof, I won’t tell you what to do
I hand you the gun and I lead you to the roof, Then it’s up to you." Who is "I" in these lines? The writer? Or, is the subject psychotic?

I have to admit, I like the darker side of Gavin... ?

I'm glad I got a reaction, Tony. To me, that's the most important part of a song, whether it's laughter, tears, a wry smile of recognition, a desire to act or just a desire to dance or sing along, you've got to be going for a reaction from the listener.

I think you've got the gist of what I'm trying to say. That first line does infer it's a common question, but I don't know if it is. It's not really about suicide. It's about falling through the air, not about hitting the ground.

The "I" in the last verse is a bit ambiguous. It just came to me. Is it the voice inside him? The devil is not a caricature with horns and a tail but a voice within us, normally silent, but occasionally whispering? Not external, but part of us?

Sorry, that's a copy and paste mistake. There's no music yet, except in my head.

Thanks T. I'll let you know. I'm thinking a very simple acoustic arrangement.
