PLAIN JANE
Verse 1:
She wore glasses, she had braces
The boys all called her names
They would tease her, they would taunt her
They’d call her plain Jane
Pre-chorus
No one recognized her
No one knew her name
The boys gathered round her
They fell for plain Jane
Chorus
Plain Jane
Plain Jane
Plain Jane
Plain Jane
Verse 2:
Young Jane was an ugly duckling
She soon became a swan
Call time for a class reunion
Her braces were long gone
Pre-chorus
Chorus
Bridge:
She became a butterfly
A beauty to behold
But those years of cruelty
Had made her heart grow cold

Mobbing, bullying and name-calling are absolute no-nos in my world. As a kid I was mobbed a couple of times. In the U.S. I was called a Nazi and a kraut eater. I had no idea what that was at the time. And later, here in Germany, on my first day at school someone wrote "Ami go home" on the chalkboard. Ami is the short form of American. Kids can be pretty cruel and parents play a huge roll in the way they act. Anyway, when I found this lyric from Carroll Kiphen here that touched the subject, I immediately knew I had to compose and record the music to go with it. It’s a sad tune, but I really feel it. Hope you like it.

You never know with who or how your lyrics will connect. Good song! Thanks Rob.

This doesn't feel "sad" to me... Dramatic, then optimistic, but not sad. It works! ?
