I don't know how to say that

I'm not a native speaker and I'm not sure if the idea that I have is understandable and correct.

I'm not sure about the preposition, too.

The line is like that:

You can cry but it's just a whisper for the outside

What I want to say:

You think it's loud but to us it isn't.

You think it's important but to us it's not.

Can I say it like that? Or should it be 'to', 'on' or 'from'?

Thanks a lot 🙂

Your expression is clear! Your use of "for" works well, emphasizing the contrast between external perception and internal reality. It's a creative way to convey that what seems significant externally might hold a different weight internally.
