The Bottle Wrote The Song"

I was feelin real lonely near the bottom step

reached for the bottle
to give me some help
took a couple shots
before I moved on
and before I knew it the bottle wrote the song

(chorus)
Oh the bottle has been my amigo , my blanket when it was cold, and the bottle filled my ego
to help me grow old,,,,,The bottle gave me answers, when I didn't know what the questions were, and the bottle made it a party to get over her

Tommorrow I''ll feel the thunder
rising in my bed
half of what I wrote down
won't be in my head,
and there'll be a full bottle gone
ohh it's proof that the bottle wrote the song

(chorus)
Oh the bottle has been my amigo , my blanket when it was cold, and the bottle filled my ego
to help me grow old,,,,,The bottle gave me answers, when I didn't know what the questions were, and the bottle made it a party to get over her, yeah the bottle wrote the song

So, you don't really have a rhythm/melody in mind?

Be fine. In 1975. If there is anything more overused that the bottle in country music, I haven't seen it. Of course everything has been used quite a bit. Probably should update some images, and get a more applicable melody and groove. Good luck.

Japov, didn't see this for a while. OD has gone into semi-retirement. I thought I was logged in but wasn't. Sorry for missing it.

thanks for your opinion , lots of country is about things commonlt used over and over , to update them would be surrendering to the new wave which I dislike

The key to songwriting is "saying the same thing in a different way." It is the challenge. Listeners now have such a fast tune out rate, it is not like the old days, where you write songs and they are around there forever. Those days are gone. Now we're doing all we can to get and keep any bit of attention we can. And part of that is finding ways to say the same thing so that people will go ,"I've heard that a billion times but never thought of it like that." That is what makes for good songwriting. Lazy songwriting is simply saying the same thing over and over again.

But each have to do what they feel driven to do. If it works for you, keep it as it is and keep going. Everything is a test of what "REACTION" you get. If you are looking for people to co-write or do something you can't do yourself, then the reaction is in who helps you with their own participation. If you are looking to involve other members, artists, labels, publishers or general listeners, it is the REACTION you get from them toward your efforts that are your results. If things work for you, keep it up. For most, it is "ADAPT OR DIE."

At any rate, whatever you do, continue to enjoy what you do and do it well. Good luck.

Japov, the old dog is up underneath a porch and I don't see him getting out any time soon. You have to sort of go under there and drag him out. I recently had a lot of things going on I wanted him to come here for. Was filming two music videos, had a couple of pretty big shows and was doing a birthday party for one of his biggest fans down here, and after a lot of back and forth, he canceled coming. OD is a great guy, but I think his fascination with music has run it's course. When I met him he was coming off several years of spending a great deal of money and time on some roads that would lead him to quite a few dead ends. That is the way it is with most people and music. They get into it with a lot of big ideas and excitement, then realize how expensive it can be.
After that, it is a constant struggle with how much you want to be involved. I think his has run it's course. Doubt will see or here much from him again. But it's been a hoot knowing him.

all my listeners and fanbase hate the new wave of country and want my kind of songs, and are willing to pay for them and those who still do the traditional style will never ever die as long as there are songs and songwriters like me. If my publisgher hadn't died I would have had several dozen more recorded and possible contracts on them too. I do not  value MAB's opinions period
